THE LONG ISLAND CHAPTER OF
THE SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS ANNOUNCES THE
AWARD IN MEMORY OF DR. SAMUEL ZUCKERMAN.
The Long Island Chapter Of the Society of
Cosmetic Chemists announces the "Spirit of Sam" Award in memory of Dr.
Samuel Zuckerman. Sam Passed away in November 1995, leaving behind a tremendous
legacy in the fields of Color, Organic Chemistry, and Education. It is in his
memory that we dedicate this award.
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION
The individual chosen must be a member of
the SCC from Area I. This includes the New England, Connecticut, New York, and
Long Island Chapters. It is implicit that the person possess a pioneering spirit
and a tremendous drive, as well as manifest three or more of the following:
1) Be innovative, creative, and original in
work
2) Possess a passionate and energetic
approach to finding answers to difficult questions
3) Be able to make difficult concepts seem
easy (teaching ability)
4) Relate raw material performance to the
structure of its molecule.
5) Be willing to stand up for one’s
beliefs even if unpopular.
6) Display mutual respect toward
colleagues.
7) Make a significant contribution to the
fields of organic chemistry or color cosmetics (novel ingredients or synthesis).
IT IS NOT NECESSARY THAT THE INDIVIDUAL BE NOMINATED FROM
THE
FIELD OF COLOR CHEMISTRY
.
AWARD
The award shall consist of a plaque,
suitably inscribed, and an honorarium of $250.00 which will be presented to the
honoree at the May general meeting of the LISCC.
NOMINATIONS
A letter (of approximately 250 words)
detailing the nominee’s qualifications should be sent to Joanne Leaver.

to 631-531-1458. Take the time to consider nominating a deserving individual.
The decision of the selection committee is final.
